New glass block window.
We have two basement windows. Both were cheap aluminum, single-pane windows. We had a professional replace one with an egress window (another photo album) and Doug replaced the other with a glass block assembly.
The previous owner just let the window leak. Original to the house was a concrete pad patio. This was not removed but covered with a nice wooden deck. We believe the concrete pad slopes slightly toward the house and in very heavy rains the window well fills up. If it filled up enough the old aluminum window was not water tight.
We had to chip out the old window with a masonry chisel and dead blow hammer. We ordered a glass block pre-assembled window from Lowes. Total project with window, Mortar, tools and paint was less than $150.
