The Mannheimer Regatta Verein is the local association that organizes regattas and an ergatta. It is its own separate entity that has a regatta headquarters and finish line tower on the Mühlauhafen (Mühlau Harbor) in Mannheim.
The Mannheimer Regatta used to be a World Cup level race until about the year 2000. The regatta lost its world cup status because the harbor is only 1950m long and not the international distance. The regatta has since morphed into the largest junior regatta (1500m) in the country.
